How to Convert a Video to MP3 on iPhone or Android
Extract audio from any video on your phone and save it as MP3 or M4A without installing an app. Works in Safari and Chrome, files stay on your device.
Tools used in this guide
You recorded a lecture, a concert clip or a voice message as a video, and you only need the sound. You don't need an app for this. A browser-based converter does it on the phone itself.
On iPhone (Safari)
- Open the Video to MP3 converter in Safari.
- Tap Choose files → Photo Library (for camera videos) or Browse (for Files).
- Leave MP3 selected. For the fastest, lossless result choose M4A with Smart quality: iPhone videos already contain AAC audio, so it's copied out instantly.
- Tap Convert. The audio is saved to Files → Downloads.
On Android (Chrome)
- Open the converter, tap Choose files and pick your video from Gallery or Files.
- Tap Convert. The MP3 lands in your Downloads folder.
Only need part of the video?
Open Advanced options → Trim and type the start and end time, or convert the whole thing and fine-tune it on the waveform in the Audio Cutter.
MP3 or M4A?
| MP3 | Plays on every device and car stereo; slightly larger for the same quality. |
|---|---|
| M4A | Better quality per MB; native to iPhone; instant extraction from phone videos. |
