    What compresses well (and what doesn't)

    • Huge savings: text, CSV, logs, code, SQL dumps, Word/Excel XML, BMP/TIFF/RAW images, uncompressed WAV.
    • Almost nothing: JPG, PNG, MP4, MP3, ZIP, PDF with images. They're already compressed. Use the Video Compressor for videos instead.

    7Z is usually 10–40% smaller, but the receiver needs 7-Zip or this site to open it. ZIP opens everywhere.
    Why didn't my photos get smaller?
