    HEVC explained

Since iOS 11, iPhones record in HEVC (H.265) to save space when Settings → Camera → Formats is set to High Efficiency. Many Windows PCs, older Android phones and TVs can't decode HEVC. Converting to H.264 MP4 makes the video play everywhere. Tip: switch your camera to Most Compatible to record H.264 from the start.
